Previously out of print, The
Guitarron Method Book, volume 1, shares the knowledge
and technique of the guitarron master himself, Natividad
de Santiago, in a precise method for a beginner level
player of the mariachi bass instrument, the guitarron.
The late Natividad de Santiago González played guitarrón
with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán for nearly 30 years.
He is widely considered the greatest guitarron player of
all time.
The book contains hand written exercises and
illustrations, all developed and by Maestro Santiago.
Written in Spanish, English translations are provided by
noted mariachi historian, Jonathan Clark. This book is
especially designed to teach the beginning player the
fundamentals of the Mariachi guitarron. It contains lessons
with playing positions, fingering positions, major and
minor scales with easy
exercises, patterns and songs. The accompanying CD
provides a teaching soundtrack to guide you through the
exercises and songs. Volume 2, to be available
by early 2007, will take the guitarron student to the
intermediate level of playing style and technique.
